Breaking the Silence on Traumatic Brain Injury

April 8 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Each year, an estimated 2 million Americans suffer some form of traumatic brain injury (TBI), most frequently experienced as a concussion. But many TBIs go undetected or misdiagnosed. Even more alarming, TBIs are the leading cause of death and disability in persons under 45 years of age. Chances are you know someone affected by a traumatic brain injury. Join us for this informative session to learn strategies for detection, prevention, recovery and resilience.

Our presenters include Dr. Vivian Faircloth, WellSpan Neurologist and Grace Elsner, local contributing author of Trauma to Triumph: Stories of TBI Survivors and the Vital Role of Post-Acute Care. Trauma to Triumph is available to borrow from the library’s collection, or available to purchase on Amazon. All proceeds benefit the HobbleJog Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping traumatic brain injury survivors thrive.

The information presented is ideal for not only TBI survivors, but also sports team coaches, parents, first responders, clinicians, military service members, and caregivers. Anyone is welcome to sign up and join the conversation. Knowing more about traumatic brain injury detection, prevention and recovery can save lives!
